Summer Teacher $1 Buys...Score!

Whenever I am shopping, I am always keeping an eye open for some new classroom additions that are on sale or cheap!  Well, I found two so far this summer that I feel are worthy of sharing.

First up...Target!

Got to love the dollar section!  It pulls me in every time. (Unless I am shopping with the hubby.  In this case, we are always very focused and seem to bypass the shelves calling to me.)  Well, last week, I was by myself and this section was calling "Michelle" nice and clear.  So glad that I stopped because I scored these awesome book containers for only $1!

Loving the cool designs.  They will look great in my classroom next year!

Next up...Dollar Tree!

I buy all my greeting cards here!  They are only 50 cents and not cheap by any means!  Many of them even say they cost more on the back.  Gotta love that!  Anyway, now that I revealed my secret, I was shopping for a birthday card for Grandma a few days ago.  (HAPPY 83rd BIRTHDAY to the BEST GRANDMA in the WHOLE WORLD!)  While I was card shopping, I quickly stopped in the teacher section.  I found these adorable owl clings for my classroom window!  Love them even more because our school mascot is the owl!  YEAH!

As I looked more through the clings, I found these polka dot clings.  At first, I glanced over them and then I stopped to take a closer look...

They are border window clings!  I had never seen this before and I was instantly in love!  I have tried taping paper border to the white board or windows before and it looks fine for awhile, but then starts to fall down and looks like a big mess.  Well, no more with border window clings!  I am so excited to try these in my classroom next year on both my window and white boards!  YEAH (again)!

Anyone else have a good summer teacher buy they found?  Love to hear it!

Honeymoon Details

The honeymoon is over...good thing I still have the summer off!  :)  Even though it is over, I had such a blast with the hubby (formerly known as the fiancĂ©) in gorgeous Jamaica!  Thought I would do a little recap of my blissful week...

Our hotel...Riu Club in Negril.  This is the view from our hotel balcony!  Only steps away from the beach and beach bar...

Local man I met at the Craft Market.  We bought a really cool Rasta man statue here.  See our souvenir below photographed by our hotel pool.

Then, we went to the famous Rick's Café where only the fearless take a turn jumping off the super high cliff...

Yep, I did it!

And I was not as vertical as I should have been.  Needless to say, I ended up with two giant bruises from my butt to the back of both my knees.  I am going to spare you with those pictures, but everyone who has seen them can't believe it!  Don't worry, I did not let it spoil my FUN!

Up next, snorkeling!

Sunset cruise on Wild Thing...

Little guy we found on our balcony...

Our trip to Dunn's River Falls...we climbed it!

Visting Bob Marley's house and tomb...

And our Rasta man...

Now, it's time to do some organizing (around the house), reading (bought a new Nicholas Sparks book), creating (going to make a jewelry holder), and preparing things for next school year (teachers pay teachers here I come).  Lots of fun ahead of me and I promise to take you along!  You will hear from me again soon and until then...

How do you know you had a great year?

I think it is so funny how I wait ALLLLLL year for the last day of school, but then it comes and it is very bitter sweet.  Turns out, I really love my fourth graders this year!  It was a bumpy ride as I learned a lot about how to teach an immediate grade and I am definitely looking forward to next year when I can fix all my fourth grade newbie mistakes.
So's the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!  Hmmm, the last day of school.  It is strange how exciting and sad something can be at the same time.  I am so excited to have a couple months off to travel, do more blogging, and teachers pay teachers, but it's hard to leave my school and classroom family.  They truly are a family.
So how do you know if you had a great year?  It dawned on me last night as I stayed up until almost 1am making end of the year photo albums for each of my students.  (Crazy, I know, but giving them out today worth every minute.)  So here it is...I think you know you had a great year if you can picture each one of your students smiling.  If you can picture what their smile really looks like, then you got through to that student in some way, you made a difference, and you had a great year.  I could do that and that makes me smile.  :)
I'd love to hear from do you know you had a great year?
So now for another first linky party!  YEAH!  I am linking up with Farley from Oh' Boy 4th Grade.  Appropriate for how I am feeling right now.
Here's my currently...

Thank you Farley for my first Linky Party!  :)
Cheers to a great end of the year everyone!

Parent Appreciation Gift Ideas!

I can hardly believe that this school year is almost over.  Our school recently had a parent appreciation potluck lunch.  It was a great way to honor the parents who have helped so much throughout the year, but I know that every school out there might not have an organized event like this or maybe some teachers want to give their parents a little extra end of the year thank you.  So I searched for some cute, simply ways to thank all the parents out there and combined them with some of my own ideas.  Take a look at the ideas I compiled below!
