Wordle Anyone?

If you haven't heard of the website Wordle yet, you are missing out!  I absolutely love making Wordles for decoration and fun in the classroom.

As I was preparing my classroom last week for the first day of school (YIKES, it's tomorrow!), I found this Wordle that my friend Sara made for me last year...

If you haven't seen this awesome website you simply go to http://www.wordle.net.

Once there, click on "Create" to make your own.  Then, simply type in the words that you want to be on your Wordle.  (Note: If you want a few words to be bigger than the others, then type them more than once into the box.)  Last, click go and like magic your Wordle is created!  If you don't like the one generated for you, just click the "Randomize" button and a new one is made for you!  Once, you have one you like you can either save it to their public gallery or print them.

Now, for my favorite part!  You can also just enter a website and the website will automatically make a Wordle for you.  So, of course, I type in my Well, Michelle? address.  Here's a few samples of what was generated:

Wordle: Well, Michelle?

Wordle: Well, Michelle?
Now how to use this in the classroom?  I have two easy ways...

PROJECTS and PRESENTS!

PROJECTS:  Use Wordles to compliment a classroom assignment such as an illustration or book cover for a story, a sight word picture to practice, or a way to review concepts at the end of a unit in any subject!

PRESENTS:  Remember how I told you my friend Sara made me that super cute Wordle picture above?  What a cute gift, right?!  She also made them for her whole class last year...

Thanks for letting me share these pictures Sara!  :)

Happy "Wordle-ing" everyone!
If anyone else using Wordles in other ways, I would love to hear about them!

Do you LOVE a great SALE?!

Of course you do!  And it is that time of year...BACK TO SCHOOL!  I have accepted the fact that I need to start preparing for my new kiddos who I will be meeting in 7 short days.  I went to work today and started getting the classroom ready.  So much to do!  One thing on that list is Back to School SHOPPING!  I have tons of things on my Teachers Pay Teachers wishlist and I will be taking full advantage of the TpT sale this Sunday and Monday!

Thank you to Mel From the Pond for this cute button!

If you haven't heard, this is the biggest TpT sale!  I will actually be extending the sale and starting this Saturday.  That means Saturday through Monday my entire store will be 20% off and on Sunday and Monday TpT takes an additional 10% off for a grand total of 28% off on all purchases!  WOW!

So have you made your wishlist yet?  Now would also be a good time to leave feedback for prior purchases made.  Remember leaving feedback earns you TpT credit that you can use for free product!  When your wishlist is complete, all you have to do is checkout before Monday and enter code BTS13.

I also wanted to mention my new packet I made...

Included are tracking sheets for all 4th grade Common Core Standards, tips for use, and a great Standard's Based Report Card Analogy.

Click here to buy these tracking sheets.  They are a must have for any 4th grade teacher implementing the Common Core along with Standards Based Report Cards.

I hope they can help you as much as they will help me this year and have fun SALE shopping!

2 days...5 bands

School time is fast approaching, but the summer isn't over quite yet!

One of the best things about summer in Las Vegas is all the great concerts that we get here.  This weekend was no disappointment in that area!  It was so nice to take a break from everything and see some awesome bands with the hubby at some amazing venues.  Here's a fun recap...

Saturday night concerts at the Hard Rock Pool:

The Expendables

Dirty Heads

This is the band that sings our wedding song...Everything I'm Looking For.  If you haven't heard it...

And the best part, you get to watch while swimming or with your feet in the water!

Now, for Sunday night also at the Hard Rock, but inside The Joint, which is a beautiful inside concert venue:

G. Love

Cypress Hill

311

Me, the Hubby, and the Hubby's friend

I have many teaching things to tell you about in the very near future, but thank you for letting me take a little weekend break and squeeze the most out of summer.  How about you, see any great concerts this summer?
I'd love to hear about it!
