Our Heart are Thankful {Door Decoration!}

I decided to spruce up my classroom door this week because I was feeling overwhelmed with having to do report cards.  I needed a reminder of everything we are thankful for.  Sometimes taking a break from everything else and just letting your creative juices flow gives you a restored energy and allows you to complete the projects weighing you down more efficiently.  A fellow teacher today said it best, "Bulletin board decorations are one of our last creative outlets as a teacher!"

So, here is what I did:
1. Outlined some fruits and vegetables on white paper.
2. Sent one home with each of my students to decorate and write what he or she was thankful on.
3. Made a giant cornacopia and attached the fruits and vegetables as they came in throughout the week.
4. Add some words, hearts, and leaves (found at the Dollar Tree).

And viola!

Now, when I come into the room every morning, I have a renewed appreciation and I think this has carried onto my students.  It gives us something to smile about.  :)

Here is a close-up for what my fourth graders are thankful for:

 And my favorite, of course...

Before I leave, just wanted to make sure you knew about the AMAZING Educents ELA bundle on sale now!  The sale ends tomorrow though, so act quick if you are interested!  It is a great deal on valuable resources for 74% off TpT prices!  WOW!  Check it out!

P.S. - Report cards are officially done! WOOHOO!

Anchor Chart Mania!

I make a lot of anchor charts with my students.  I feel it is a great way to document our learning and excellent reference tools for the students.  We have been in school almost 3 months now, so I thought it would be a great time to recap some of the ones we have made so far!  {Disclaimer:  ALL these charts were made along with the students while teaching!  They are far from perfect and mind the mistakes or imperfections!}

First some math ones...

Now some language arts ones...

And my "Gambit" anchor chart!  Gambits are a Kagan term for praise!  I especially like "You should go to college!"

So there is my peak into my fourth grade classroom.  Hope you can use one of these ideas in your room! :)

Before I leave you, I wanted to just do another quick reminder of the AMAZING Educents bundle on sale right now full of valuable resources for 3-4 grade teachers.  It is 74% off retail TpT prices!  WOW!

My Class is Special...

I {HEART} My Class!

Just a quick blog post to let everyone know that I absolutely love my fourth graders this year!  They are such a smart group of students and they are the ones who make the classroom a fun place to be.  They inspire me to be a better teacher.

My class is special because...

they make me laugh,

they are so bright,

they are so eager,

they are so willing,

 and they try hard.

I seriously could go on and on, but instead I leave you with two ways they made me smile this week...

Smile #1 - One of my students asked me today why some books have book jackets?  Without hesitation, another student chimes in, "because they could get cold!"

Haha!

Smile #2 - Now, my Vegas students do not REALLY know what COLD feels like, but they sure do know how to bring the fashion.  It dropped into the 50's on Wednesday and half of my girls were wearing boots (including myself)!  It was so funny that we all showed up wearing the same thing, that we had to take a picture...

So, why is your class special?
