I seriously believe writing down your New Year's resolutions rather than just thinking about them is a whole lot more effective for me!  It forces to me to make a solid commitment and no one likes to break those!  Therefore, when I saw Brandi's from A Peach for the Teach link up party, I knew I had to join!  It was super simple writing down some goals to focus on this year.  And here they are...

Vacation Whirlwind

I feel like a have literally been in a whirlwind over the last week.  I crammed way more than should even be possible into last week and I am very much looking forward to some pure relaxation next week.  So, how about some highlights of my holiday adventures...

Before break, we had a 'wear your ugly Christmas sweater day' at my school.  This little guys sweater was my favorite!
It even lit up! (I used a app called "Paper Artist" to make my pictures looked sketched.  I think they look cool that way!)

My birthday was the actually the Monday before Christmas, so right before break, I had my of my students bring me in this birthday cake...
PURPLE CHEVRON!  Who could ask for more?!  My students actually spoiled me this year!  They bought me so much including some nice Packer gear.  Hmmmm....maybe they do listen!

Then, it was time to travel home to Pennsylvania.  So, with my nails done and my passport in tote, off I went...

There was way more of this than I hoped for...
but I still had so much fun!

My mother did a fabulous wrapping job on my birthday presents :)

We did a lot of this...

(Both making and eating!)

I also did a lot of this...
The best part was, however, spending time with all my family and being able to spend my first Christmas with my hubby!  Oh, I love Christmas vacation!

Now, before I leave you, I wanted to share some pin worthy things from break.  I am sure they are both originally Pinterest inspired, but here are my versions...

First up, one of my students brought me this tree in!  So cute and healthy!  Double bonus!

Secondly, my super creative sister-in-law turned her Christmas tree into a "Birthday Tree" in honor my nephew's 3rd birthday today!  What a fun idea for those birthdays between Christmas and New Year's!
Happy birthday Gavin!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday vacation!

On the 12th day of Christmas...MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I know I have been counting down the 12 days of Christmas, but did you know today is actually the first official day in the REAL 12 days of Christmas?  So, the 12 days of Christmas ACTUALLY runs December 25th - January 6th.

And since it is Christmas, we cannot just stop at one fun fact!
Did you know...
A Yule log is an enormous log that is typically burned during the Twelve Days of Christmas (December 25-January 6). Some scholars suggest that the word yule means “revolution” or “wheel,” which symbolizes the cyclical return of the sun. A burning log or its charred remains is said to offer health, fertility, and luck as well as the ability to ward off evil spirits.

Welcome to Day 12 of the "Teacher's 12 Days of Christmas!"

It is ending today, but I have one more great deal for you!  Today you can snag my Detailed Guide to Writing Narratives best seller for an amazing 50% off.  Merry Christmas and thank you for following along!

I hope you enjoyed the 12 days of Christmas specials and are having a very special holiday time.  I know that I am having a great first Christmas with the hubby!  I will post some Pennsylvania fun pics later this week.  Until then, remember you should eat one mince pie on each of the 12 days of Christmas to bring good luck!  Haha!  Oh, and remember that I also have some amazing teacher friends offering 50% off today too...

On the 11th day of Christmas...

Christmas fun fact to make you think...

There are 2,106 million children under age 18 in the world. If there are on average 2.5 children per household, Santa would have to make 842 million stops on Christmas Eve, traveling 221 million miles. To reach all 842 million stops, Santa would need to travel between houses in 2/10,000 second, which means he would need to accelerate 12.19 million miles (20.5 billion meters) per second on each stop. 2,340,000 mph - The speed at which Santa's sleigh would need to travel if he were to reach every home in the world on Christmas Eve!  Whew!  Good luck tonight Santa (he is obviously taking time to read my blog right now too)!  Now, we know why you needs all those cookies and milk!  :)

Welcome to day 11 of a "Teacher's 12 Days of Christmas!"

Today you get my Detailed Guide to Writing Opinions at 50% off!

It is jammed packed with all the things you need to teach opinions along with the Common Core State Standards for grades 3-5.  I know you will love it!

I have even included ideas for how to have an Author's Celebration.  I do an Author's Celebration at the end of every writing unit and it really pushes the students to work hard and be proud of their published pieces.

Oh, and remember that I also have some amazing teacher friends offering 50% off today too!

I'm not sure what you will be up to later today, but I hope to be watching the Packer's game!  We have had some tough games the last few weeks, but we need a few more wins to stay in it.  My lucky Packer shoes made it to Pennsylvania with me:

In honor of this football Sunday and the "Teacher's 12 Days of Christmas," I am offering my Multiplication Football for 50% off!  What a great deal!

Your students will seriously love playing this game!  My students get so excited for our football games.  I even set up a schedule where we play a different fourth grade each week and keep a schedule of our wins and losses.  So far we are 3-3.  Not great, but two more games until our fourth grade Superbowl!  I'll keep you posted on how it goes!

On the 7th day of Christmas...

I don't know if I can beat yesterday's Christmas fun fact, but here we go...

Alabama was the first state in the United States to officially recognize Christmas in 1836. Oklahoma was the last U.S. state to declare Christmas a legal holiday, in 1907. Christmas wasn’t declared an official holiday in the United States until June 26, 1870.

So, that makes 2013, the 144th official Christmas.  Fun!

Now, onto other news...today is day 7, in a "Teacher's 12 Days of Christmas!"  Today my newest product is being offered for 50% off!  If you follow closely, you will have the opportunity to scoop up 6 more teacher tools for a great holiday discount.
